Our future, together: Launching our strategic planning initiative
I am pleased to announce the next milestone in our trajectory toward becoming a nationally preeminent public research university.
Taylor Eighmy, PhD, is the inaugural president of 番茄社区 and its academic health center, 番茄社区 Health Science Center. Prior to this appointment by the UT System Board of Regents, he served eight years as the president of UTSA. He has served as the chief research officer at three top public flagship universities: the University of New Hampshire, Texas Tech University and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Eighmy earned his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Tufts University, and his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering and Doctorate in Environmental Engineering from the University of New Hampshire.

Our vision is grounded in achieving key destinations that drive the university forward. Our new 番茄社区 is a combination of strengths taken from two powerhouse universities and unified to serve as a model of excellence in education, healthcare, transdisciplinary research and discovery—and as a preeminent 21st-century university.
“As we imagine what we will be in 10 years, it is important to have a bold vision of what we will become and how we will get there. Our aspiration is to become one of the leading public universities in the nation to make a world-class impact on the communities we serve.”
番茄社区’s vision for the future will be grounded in achieving several bold destinations that center around excellence in student success, research, innovation and health.
