I am pleased to share that after a rigorous national search, Jenny Jones has been appointed ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s new Senior Vice President for Governmental Relations. In this key leadership role, Jenny will advance the university’s priorities at the state and federal levels and help strengthen our impact across Texas.

Jenny will lead ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s governmental relations strategy, working closely with policymakers, state agencies, and community leaders. She will help advance key priorities, including research growth and innovation, workforce development, health and bioscience advancement, infrastructure investment, and student access and success. Her leadership will be critical in ensuring strong alignment between our institutional goals and the broader needs of the state.

Jenny brings a distinguished career in governmental relations, public policy and higher education leadership. She has held key roles within the Texas A&M University System and state agencies, where she built a reputation as a trusted advisor and effective advocate for complex public university systems. Her experience spans both academic and health-related enterprises, positioning her uniquely to support ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s continued evolution as an integrated, research-intensive institution.

Jenny joins us at a pivotal time as we expand our research enterprise, deepen partnerships, and elevate our role as a driver of economic mobility and innovation across Texas. Her ability to operate at the intersection of public policy, higher education and academic health will be instrumental in aligning our priorities with emerging state and national opportunities. She brings both the strategic perspective and the relationships needed to help advance our work.

Jenny will begin her role on May 18, reporting directly to me, with Carlos Martinez supporting a thoughtful transition through the end of May to ensure continuity of key priorities and relationships. This transition reflects both the strength of the foundation Carlos has built and the momentum we are well-positioned to carry forward with Jenny.
