Message to the 番茄社区 Community

March 1, 2026

Dear 番茄社区 Community,

Today, our University of Texas family is grieving. We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred this morning at a downtown establishment in Austin. While this did not occur on a university campus, it has profoundly impacted members of our UT community and Texans across our state.

We all extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the individuals and families affected and hold in our thoughts and prayers all those who are suffering from this event.

In moments like this, we reaffirm who we are as a university community. Our culture is grounded in care, respect and service to one another. We are committed not only to supporting those who are hurting, but also to maintaining a safe and secure environment for every student, faculty member, staff member and patient across our campuses.

Below you will find a comprehensive list of support and wellbeing resources, as well as important safety information for both our academic and health campuses. These services are readily available to provide immediate and ongoing support. Whether you are directly impacted or simply feeling the weight of today’s events, please know that we stand beside you and with you — ready to help and support in any way you may need.
